At this point in our lives, you'd think we'd be used to curve balls. I'm mean, there's the sextuplets and Mr. C, just to name two. Well, we're not.
The Friday before last, I'm out shopping with Mr. C and my niece when I get a text from my husband, "Laid off". Of course, it then included some wording that I will not repeat here.
Wow.
By the end of the day, we had decided that maybe it was a good thing as my husband was unhappy there. To clarify, he was unhappy with the way the office was being run (or not run), but still loved his work. It's his passion and he's very talented.
To add insult to injury, he then had jury duty the following Tuesday and was selected, putting a big crimp into the job search. But, he's looking at it positively: it's keeping him busy so there's not much time to wallow.
He's got a few irons in the fire, but there's not much out there right now. He's getting a six-week severance package, so we're not panicking yet. But if we don't get some nibbles soon, I might have to dust off the ole teaching certificate and reenter the workforce!
In the meantime, I finally downloaded a month's worth of photographs off the old camera. Now it's time to start sharing. First up, our Valentine's Day. Among other themed meals that day, the kids had pink heart-shaped pancakes with mini-chocolate chips for breakfast with glasses of pink milk! I also made cute heart-shaped sugar cookies for Mr. B's class (and you know I had to frost them, too!) as well as Rice Krispie treats (made with pink marshmallows). Enjoy!
